There’s no need for me to rehash The Fifth-Columnist’s overproduced half hour of lies and distortions…. the young West Point cadets, despite orders from superiors for “enthusiasm”, sat on their hands.
Essentially Obama delivered the same old half a loaf rah-rah he always does when trying to more of less conduct a war while selling out those who fight it in order to appease the radical left.
I am beginning to view this war the same as I did the Vietnam War in 1972-73.
Johnson had wasted thousands of lives through the 1960s by “no-fire zones”, hand-picking bombing targets himself and a refusing to interdict Russian war supply ships before they reached Haiphong Harbor.
From the beginning of Rolling Thunder bombing raids over North Vietnam starting in 1965, Washington dictated which targets would be struck, the day and hour of the attack, the number and types of aircraft and the tonnages and types of ordnance utilized, and sometimes even the direction of the attack.
Repeatedly, the Air Force was ordered to conduct daylight bombing missions over the most heavily fortified city in history, following the very same routes, day in, day out.
Airstrikes were strictly forbidden within 30 nautical miles of Hanoi and within 10 nautical miles of the port of Haiphong. A 30-mile buffer zone also extended along the length of the Chinese frontier.
According to Air Force historian Earl Tilford:
Targeting bore little resemblance to reality in that the sequence of attacks was uncoordinated and the targets were approved randomly - even illogically. The North's airfields, which, according to any rational targeting policy, should have been hit first in the campaign, were also off-limits.
As a result, our losses were appalling and unnecessary.
In 1968, Richard Nixon was elected on his a “secret plan” to end the war… which turned out to be… we’ll run away, and please give us back our POWs.
Like rats on a sinking Green Peace ship, Congress was overrun with democrat anti-war, anti-military cowards and eventually voted to withhold funding from our troops in the field…. any of this sound familiar?
In response to the 1970 U.S. invasion of Cambodia Congress passed the landmark Cooper-Church Amendment which prohibited the use of any funds already appropriated for military spending on the introduction of additional U.S. troops into Cambodia.
Nixon only whined, and did not veto it.
Following Cooper-Church, and even after the Paris cease-fire agreement, Congress literally dropped the hammer on the Vietnam War with its passage in 1973 of a joint resolution (H.J.Res. 636) prohibiting any further appropriation or expenditure of any funds for any "combat in or over or from the shores of North Vietnam, South Vietnam, Laos or Cambodia."
The South Vietnamese held on for the next two years, but without the promised and agree upon U.S. air support, the ARVN was finally crushed and Saigon fell in 1975. Millions of our allies, many who worked with and for us, were…. along with their families, imprisoned, tortured and murdered if they were unable to escape.
Cambodia was transformed into a killing field the likes of which had not been seen since the days of the Third Reich.
Their blood (and that of 58,000 Americans) remains on the hands of American politicians.
It is happening again now.
Today we also have spineless politicians in power who care far more about their government job and a license to steal, than they do about the best and brightest of this generation fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
And last night after dithering for more than three months, at a cost of 116 U.S. troops, Obama announced that he “will” send the reinforcements so urgently requested by General McChrystal; or more, correctly, about 30-percent of the 80-90,000 wanted by CENTCOM.
And… Obama’s timeline for the “surge” will be carried out incrementally… one of the worst military mistakes.
One move on the chessboard can be met and matched… 20 cannot.
Yet, the Coward-in-Chief said his "urgent attention and swift action" resulted in him sending 17,000 U.S. troops "to stabilize a deteriorating situation" in Afghanistan."
Additional U.S. contingents, the 8,000-strong 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade from Camp LeJeune, N.C., will arrive in late May. The Army's 5th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division from Fort Lewis, Wash., will arrive with 4,000 troops in late July, along with an additional 5,000 troops in still-undesignated smaller units.
And the kicker from last night’s abuse of the West Point Corps of cadets who could have been studying or sleeping, was this:
We will remove our combat brigades from Iraq by the end of next summer and all of our troops by the end of 2011.
That’s all “combat” troops out by August 2010… nine months from today.
And we’ll be out of Afghanistan just in time for….. the presidential election!
Isn’t it ironic how that worked out?
First, Obama cannot predict the future, despite his water-walking ability.
Secondly, our leaving Afghanistan, also brings into play the issues of Iran, Pakistan and Iraq which TOTUS failed to strategically address. Could those elements possibly impact our military decisions between now and then?
If this time table and decisions are carried out, we will soon have our backs against the wall in the United States, for we will have proven that we’re more bark than bite, and that if we have democrat-controlled government, we can be bitch-slapped at will by any raghead on the block.
This happened in Somalia in 1992, and we suffered 9/11 as a direct result.
Tell, me… how in good conscience can I urge someone to join the military now while Barack Hussein Obama is at the helm? Now that he has given our plans to the enemy, and even given them the date of our surrender?
How could I face their family if they were the last to die in a war manipulated by The Manchurian Candidate to assure his re-election?
I yearn for American of long ago:
“We call upon the Government of Japan to proclaim now the unconditional surrender of all the Japanese armed forces, and to provide proper and adequate assurances of their good faith in such action. The alternative for Japan is prompt and utter destruction."
Any questions?
