George Bush needs to get back to his real job… commander in chief.

(The photo at the right shows a Brit tanker going over the side after being firebombed yesterday by the very Iraqis he is there to protect; a clear indication there's more going in the world than a water-logged city).
Our troops must feel abandoned by all of us as a U.S. media-driven storm is being portrayed as the one Moses was holding in reserve for the Pharaoh.
Bush is now in New Orleans more than Nagin, who has found Dallas more to his liking.
It is high time that the President put someone in charge of The Great New New Orleans Rebuild, stop being a governor and get back to overseeing the death and destruction of the ragheads.
Billions will be squandered where counties are “parishes” and nothing can or will prevent it. The budget is already more than $200,000 per refugee, er evacuee, and if anyone believes the current figures, they must have just arrived from Fillintheblankistan.
Right now Bush’s humanity is painting him into a corner; the man is truly moved by what has happened to the people of the Gulf Coast, and perhaps stung somewhat by the Left’s hysterical and unfounded criticism, and he's making amends.
But enough; commanders in chief do not do curb and gutter. The president must put this job in the hands of someone who will manage at least the project’s first stage; tomorrow is not soon enough. It needs to be a manager/business man, not a politician or someone seeking to enhance their career.
This is a thankless and dead-end job.
Mayor Rudi is an obvious, but also a naïve choice; no one with Oval Office thoughts would touch this with Bill Clinton’s hands. Same, same: McCain, and every Democrat in America.
Tommy Franks comes to mind, but who can blame someone who devoted their entire adult life to the nation for keeping a low profile?
For my money it’s Ross Perot… if you want it done and done right.
And speaking as a taxpayer, New New Orleans should be made over; there’s little reason to rebuild at all if it ends up being managed by a Nagin or “protected” by police officers who are on the take, loot and in the end simply desert their post.
There should be an end to federally-subsidized flood insurance, and above all if The Big Easy is to rise from the ashes, it too must rise from the water. If we could build the Boulder dam, we can build a city that isn’t below sea level.
Of course this resurrection would mean no squalid ghettos, no houses that would fail to meet code in Somalia and no murder rate five times higher than New York.
Mayor Rudi cleaned up the Big Apple by cracking down on crime by starting with the annoying jerks that run up and try to clean your windshield at an intersection and then demand money.
You fight crime by arresting even the “small-time criminals”… because there are no “small time” criminals.
Besides, a significant portion of the population will never return to New Orleans… they had little to stay for in the first place.

I still haven't forgiven Ross Perot for getting Clinton Elected. Gingrich might run. I would vote for Condi. But nobody could hold a candle to Franks.
Come! Come Cincinnatus! Duty calls you to Action!
