A tip of the helmet to reader Otter who brought to my attention a plausible explanation of the "disappearing mic cord" NYT photo I commented on the other day...
The photog said that the cord was not PhotoShopped bur rather the upper portion of the hand-held mic cord was blurred due to the singer's movement--the image shot at 1/6th of a second in available light; closer scrutiny appears to indicate a blurred band which could in fact be the near invisible cord.
The photo was innocuous compared to recent doctored news photo scandals and all this proves that 1.) the blogosphere serves as the only effective watchdog keeping tabs on the elite MSM and 2). bloggers are willing to keep on the story until the truth is revealed... something the leftist media simply refuses to do.
Here's good round up of recent fauxtograph scandals at Little Green Footballs... including Green Helmet Guy's confession that he used dead babies as props for staged pictures.
A gang of wetbacks, aided no doubt by turncoat Americans, attacked a demonstration of Minutemen in Maywood, Calif., stripped down the American flag from outside a U.S. post office, trampled it and hoisted the piece of crap rag of Mexico. Malkin has the details.
The Glenn Beck Show on CNN Headline News has the video tonight... the only time you'll probably ever see it.
A Google news search produced only one hit on the story... naturally.
Meanwhile a self-confessed "terrorist" Muslim intentionally runs down more than a dozen helpless people in his truck and one writer at the SF Chron wrote and entire column without mentioning anything about the rampaging murderer... other than calling him a "crazed SUV driver."
After running down 14 helpless people, killing one, Omeed A. Popal, 29, an Afghani Muslim, was taken into custody Tuesday after an hour-long rampage in which he methodically sought our his targets.Police said that the dead man was found near Popal's home in the East bay area.
His last victims were in front of the Jewish Community Center, and he was later dragged from his vehicle stating he was a "terrorist." While some relatives said he was mentally disturbed, the police reported him to be "rational and unrepentant"... saying he had run down pedestrians "because he just wanted to."
Law enforcement and leftist media conclusion? Just another lone, crazed madman and the cops don't know why he did it, yet incredibly, they somehow know it's not terrorism. This was before they checked his residence, his background or... his recent trip to Afghanistan.
The blogosphere (below via DebbieSchlussel.com) keeps tabs on all these non-terrorist, lone, crazed madmen killers who just happen to be young male Muslims.
"In March, Mohammed Reza Taheri-Azar, an Iranian Muslim--inspired by Allah and hatred for America--purposely drove his Jeep into students at the University of North Carolina.
"And in December, Ali R. Warrayat, a Palestinian Jordanian Muslim, drove his car into a Home Depot in Arizona, for the purpose of mass destruction of the store and those in it. He wanted to set the place ablaze. He, too, inspired by his anger toward America and his Koran in his trunk.
"And then, there are the other incidents of Dr. Wameeth Fadhli, a Muslim medical doctor in Texas, who did a drive-by, "random" shooting of a bicyclist (tip from Sue Bob's Diary). A Muslim in Baltimore, Mujtaba Rabbani Jabbar, shooting and murdering a Jewish guy at a movie theater. A Pakistani Muslim, Naveed Haq, in Seattle shooting women at the Jewish Federation, murdering one."
And the MSM is entirely focused on Mel Gibson yelling at a cop which totaled exactly zero casualties... other than himself.
For me... I also thrown in the "Beltway Snipers" John Allen Muhammed and Lee Boyd Malvo. At least the worst affirmative action hire in history... Chief Moose... won't be investigating any other cases.
Over at SFGate.com Cinnamon Stillwell has it down exactly in "The Myth of the Lone Gunman. "..... at a certain point, authorities will need to take the blinders off and start acknowledging that lone gunmen and Islamic terrorism are not mutually exclusive. As President Bush has repeatedly emphasized, 'this is a different kind of war' and therefore a different kind of thinking is needed in order to win it. Unfortunately, it is our own officials who most seem to need an update."
I guess all those skinny, young "Vietnamese farmers" I saw shooting at me 30-some years ago were just lone crazed madmen. They didn't have SUVs... they had military rifles like Muhammed.
At the same time I noticed all the bitching about the "damned oil companies price-gouging us" has disappeared. Huh.
If BP and the other oil barons were gouging us at $3.01, using the same logic, they must be losing money at $2.56, right?
Any economist with a degree assures us that horrible BIG OIL works on a minimal profit margin. Donald Eng has done the math.:
"A quick scan of the stock market reports reveals that Big Oil profits pale in comparison to what the state makes. Sunoco, which is small-time by the standards of petroleum companies, returns a relatively paltry 3.1 percent profit. That means if Sunoco collected $3 per gallon in revenue (it doesn't), its profits would be 9.3¢ per gallon. But individual station owners, port authorities and Saudi princes all take their cut, too.
"Larger oil companies like Royal Dutch Shell (8.7 percent) and Exxon-Mobil (11.3 percent) make higher profits, but the fact remains: the State of Connecticut makes more money on a gallon of gas than Big Oil."
I laugh my ass off at people who bitch about $3 gas, but spend the equivalent of $7.50/gallon for bottled water at the same gas station.... then drive down to Starbuck's and gladly pay $4.57 for 16 ounces of coffee. I pay $6 for two pounds of coffee that lasts me for two months.
Wanna bitch at someone for gouging your gas tank....? write a letter to your governor who oversees the $.28/gallon state gasoline tax. On second thought... that funds the the construction and maintenance of the roads you drive on doesn't it?
Gasoline and the internal combustion engine cannot be separated. Further, they cannot be separated from our freedom to come and go as we wish... on a whim, on vacation, to work, to rush a sick child to the hospital, to see a dying relative. We all have that ability for $3 a gallon and a $1,500 beater or a $750 motorcycle.
Think about it.
Without American ingenuity, capitalism, gasoline and automobiles, we would never get more than a buggy ride's distance from our birthplace.
Not only that... we can have two cars... three cars; three cars, and a motorcycle, a lawn mower, an edger, a ski boat, an ATV and a snowmobile.
And we can fly anywhere in the world.... let that sink in; anywhere in the world.
So... shut up and buy more gasoline.
