On the 60th anniversary of D-Day, the tide went out more than usual, exposing the scores of rusted hulks of U.S. equipment, tanks, LCIs and LSTs and myriad other models of landing craft which were damaged and sunk during the invasion of Fortress Europe.
Not far away, more than 9,000 Americans lie under Stars of David and Crosses in the perfectly manicured American cemetery on Amercian soil... a gift by the people of France to the United States in gratitude for their salvation and liberty.
In less than a month, with the youngest of the June Sixth veterans now past 80, the 65th anniversary of D-Day will see the last meaningful gathering of their numbers.
Their age and the ravages of a long life will virtually insure that but a relative handful will live to see the 70th anniversary, let alone attend.
But this year, the heroic men of Omaha, Utah and Pointe du Hoc won't be allowed on walk these beaches for the last time because their Command-in-Chief has demanded that the French close them to all visitors other than his official D-Day delegation.
Via John Romano at Breitbart.com's Big Hollywood:
Barack Obama will attend the events on June 6th as George Bush did in 2004 for the sixtieth memorial service. Here is the rub, as of now Obama’s State Department has asked (read demanded) the French government not allow tour guide services to operate that day. It is a big day for Normandy tourism. Yet, the king will not allow those not connected with government to enjoy the day. Obama is very important you know. This is an unprecedented request. I hope the French come to their senses and deny it.
I have written Breitbart for additional sources for this story and as yet I haven't found the story in any "major" US or foreign news organization, nor am I likely to... but as far as I'm concerned this has the ring of truth, and I reserve the right to run a retraction if I have jumped the gun.
Moreover, I'll admit to a driving hatred of this president that dwarfs my feelings for Lyndon Johnson, Dick Nixon, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton combined.
... that's saying something a lot.
Nonetheless, Barack Obama is not above using the hollowed ground of Omaha Beach to orchestrate another self-serving staring role on the world stage; nor is he beyond spitting in the faces of our heroes who lie beneath the blood soaked ground that is Normandy as he continues to apologize for America and Americans.
Lets us not forget that this Commander-in-Chief refused to visit Normandy last March despite repeated request by the French government because he he didn't want to offend the Germans and the Brits.
Never mind that Americans are largely responsible for saving the world from the horror of the Axis Powers.
Speaking of the Brits... the cowardly politicians there have surpassed Obama in their unadulterated disdain and hatred of their veterans.
"... as revealed by the Daily Mail, the British Government has shamefully decided to ignore the event, with no plans for ministers or the Royal Family to attend" the 65th anniversary of D-Day.
"The Ministry of Defence has rejected requests for financial aid to survivors and says there will be no further official commemoration of D-Day until its centenary - when all those involved will be dead.
"To compound the farce, the American and Canadian governments are sending top-level delegations to mark the momentous date.
"Even the Germans will join the commemorations and remember the fallen on both sides.
That's right, even the damned Germans are coming.
The British government, whose soldiers were battered by fighting the Nazis virtually alone starting in 1939, won't stand the expense of crossing the 26-mile English Channel and a couple of nights in a French hotel for the heroes of Sword, Juno and Gold.
It is apparently government policy to deprive these good men of walking among the spirits of their friends and enemies for the very last time.
At least some of their countrymen still care:
Do we?
I seldom do this but if you feel strongly about this, write, e-mail or call the White House and demand that all Americans--especially veterans--be allowed to personally pay their respects to the memory of those who died during Operation Overlord before most of us were born.

Maybe, if we're all lucky, there is still one last unexploded landmine on Omaha Beach--and Obambi will find it (the hard way)!

So, the arab mole needs his privacy. So What ? The media loves him but the military and intelligence community does not seem to share the feeling. I think he;s scared of his own shadow. the most heroic thing he can manage is shoot some hoopth.
