Had a discussion the other day about what is happening to the country and how some of the commentary here appears to accept or condone a point at which the loyal opposition (us) may because of its rhetoric may be regarded as enemies of the state.
I do, and we are.
And, he sensibly asks... "which side is the United States and where does that put you?"
Good point. But here's the way I look at it... we, the people, are always the United States, and the government is merely the government. The Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution all stand on one simple platform.
"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."
In its entirety the Bill of Rights is government-limiting. "Congress shall make no law..... I through X.
And the catch-all:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people. (--emphasis mine)
So... "at some point" is not just "perhaps", it is when we determine that overthrowing the government is not only proper, that it is demanded of us.
In so doing the Founders concisely asserted what is known as the "right of revolution": that is, people have certain God-given rights, and when a government violates these rights, the people have the right to "alter or abolish" that government.
Simple as that. So the question and the answer my friend and I discussed was the "when".
Aye, there's the rub.
In my humble opinion, my writing constantly revolves around the theme of the "canary in the coal mine."
Sensible people pay attention to the early warning signs that threaten, if ignored, to leave The People no alternative but to "alter and/or abolish" that oppressive regime.
Sensibly, I cannot imagine a time in the near (20-year) future in which an armed rebellion would have even a 40-60 chance of success... the approximate odds the rebels faced in 1775. But I most certainly can imagine it if this regime continues in the path of destruction is has bludgeoned the nation with in just 100 days.
Unless.
Unless.... attentive to the canaries, we right our course by immediately asserting the limitless political "power of the people".
Who, after all, is Obama.... who is the the president, or any politician? Nothing more than help from a temp agency. I am an American until I die, Obama is hopefully back organizing the ghetto in four years.
What loose feathers do we now see on the NY Times that lines the bottom of America's cage?
First of all, the Second Amendment hangs on a single, solitary vote in the highest court in the land... hardly a rousing reaffirmation of our right to protect ourselves from the government.
Americans who are very concerned about this are demonized by our domestic enemies as "right-wing terrorists", "militia", "nazis"... yet which side of this issue is backed by the Constitution?
Remember the lessons of Barack Obama's mentor, communist firebrand Saul Alinsky:
"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."
Have Republican politicians, candidates and voters been targeted and polarized by organized thugs and leftists organizations?
All of them.... since Lyndon Johnson ran the infamous (but so effective it only aired once) "Daisy ad" in 1964.
Is Sara Palin ridiculed and preposterously accused of bearing the Downs Syndrome child that is actually her grandson?
Was George Bush's 30-year-old DWI targeted by leftist operatives while Obama's marijuana and cocaine use was and is ignored?
Were George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford cast by the national media and the democrat party thugs as "stupid and inept"?
Is Justice Clarence Thomas cast as unable to find his way to the men's room? Was he attacked with an unbelievably organized national effort to deny him confirmation? Need I say more than "Bork"?
Real Americans... none of this is coincidence; this is happening with long-organized intent. Our individual rights are being attacked on each and every front.
Our Judeo-Christian history, values and ethics are being attacked, voter fraud (Al Franken) is now routine in an on-going criminal effort by Obama's tax-payer funded thugs, ACORN; and a huge, tax-salaried force of national "volunteers" who will do the sole bidding of one party is being readily to spread throughout the country.
For the first time in our history, your city council or country commissioners can with the Supreme Court's blessing, confiscate your property and sell it to the highest bidder for private profit and government graft and corruption.... in clear violation of the Fourth Amendment.

The loss of freedom is not some faraway possibility that happens overnight, Germany did not become Nazi Germany in the 1930s... that horror began in the aftermath of WWI. The Germans ignored the warning signs, as did the rest of the world.
Mister Jefferson warned us: The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.
We have been at slumber for far too long.
I would have to hope that if Mr. Obambi issued an order to start rounding up gun-owners, or conservatives, etc, that the law-enforcement and military folks would rebel against such an unconstitutional order. If they don't, then we really will have another civil war, because I will not give up my arms or surrender to the government.
Not to mention that the POTUS is not even an American citizen!
