I have just returned from the Belly of the Beast, or at least one of its Left Coast outposts otherwise known as Portland, Oregon, and an otherwise very beautiful city.
But being there reminded me of patrolling in Quang Nam Province 40 years ago..... observe the people, their behavior, read the posters, listen to the pidgin English; look for what you'd expect to see and what is not there.
Look for the signs.
The difference is that 40 years ago the threat was concealed, subtle, deadly if not identified immediately.
In Portland there is no subtlety... the signs are plentiful and there for all to see and hear as is painfully obvious by these beautiful, innocent children "supporting gay rights" at Portland's annual Parade
Their "parents" have subjected them to this public flaunting of human debauchery despite the fact that at their tender age they have a hard time describing the relationship between Christopher Robbin and Winnie the Poo.
By indoctrinating children from the cradle to accept these unnatural acts sets a society up for gender and sexual confusion, which brings about widespread immorality, and in turn further tears down the traditional family.
But then what do you expect from a city whose homosexual mayor (the ironically named Sam Adams) is under a state criminal investigation after admitting that he lied in the run-up to the 2008 mayor's race about his 2005 sexual relationship with an under age legislative intern.
His Honor (left), then a city commissioner, was 42 at the time he had sex with a minor; apparently he lied to investigators and pressured the teen (picture, right) to lie as well.
But this isn't my point today... just another indication of the moral destruction of America which comes all dressed up in "hope" and "change" and "social justice" pedaled by fifth-columnists such as the President of the United States.
Two headlines just today which should come as no surprise if you've been in possession of a pulse for the last two years.
U.S. Seeks Expanded Power to Seize Firms
The Obama administration is considering asking Congress to give the Treasury secretary unprecedented powers to initiate the seizure of non-bank financial companies, such as large insurers, investment firms and hedge funds, whose collapse would damage the broader economy, according to an administration document.
ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA; NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE
(Drudge-developing) On the night of June 24, the media and government become one, when ABC turns its programming over to President Obama and White House officials to push government run health care -- a move that has ignited an ethical firestorm!
Highlights on the agenda:
ABCNEWS anchor Charlie Gibson will deliver WORLD NEWS from the Blue Room of the White House.
The network plans a prime time special -- 'Prescription for America' -- originating from the East Room, exclude opposing voices on the debate.
The broadcast will be devoid of all opposing points of view, and of course journalism-free in its entirety.
We now have a state-owned and controlled press; free enterprise is being nationalized. Unprecedented unilateral sacking of corporate executive by the nation's temporary leader is becoming routine and daily threats against all dissent are made at all levels of the federal government.
I don't know if George Orwell was a genius, but he foresaw Barack Hussein Obama coming in 1948--the year of my birth.
The most obvious theme of Orwell's 1984 is, of course, political. Orwell is implicitly criticizing the kind of government that attempts to control the intellect and emotions of its citizens. ... the most serious shortcomings of a totalitarian state: the all-pervasive character of government and the lack of freedom of dissent.
"And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed—if all records told the same tale—then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.'"
The election of Obama threatens the end of America, and in its place, the creation of some third-world banana republic.
And Orwell warned us about him in plain English 61 years ago.

Have been watching The N later at night for their hostings of older TV shows. The N -- "TV for teens" and run by Nickelodeon (parent company: Viacom, the same sludge factory that churns out the MTV abominations) -- usually broadcasts crap shows depicting wanton sexual teen activity between all types of genders.
I've usually overlooked their airings because I like my Fresh Prince of Bel Air, but recently, I've been noticing GLAAD advertisements.
I've overlooked their teen sex shows, which are recorded in Canada to skirt around FCC regulations and federal law. I've glanced past their idiotic SAVE THE EARTH advertisements. The GLAAD ads are the last straw. There's no one alive that's going to be able to convince me that youth indoctrination is in full force.
Sure, I can keep my kid from watching most of the crap on that channel. I don't really care about that. I care about the parents who don't give a crap -- or who think it's *healthy* -- for their kids to watch it...because, you know, "they'll do it anyway" or "if they're introduced to it, they'll be more educated about it."
Eff you, Viacom.

Luckily, I don't live in Boulder, but I work there every day. I find it hard to believe that there is a less tolerable, more liberal town than this. I was born here, and it used to be known as the center of Republican politics. This place is so far left it's hard to imagine Portland being even further. I'll make sure to avoid the place.
Brought to you from the land of fruits and nuts in the People's Republic thereof.

I think 1984 was about the machinery that ran/subverted/perverted society but the philosophy was best stated in Animal Farm. Dont give them so much credit. They are just greedy power hungry jerks. Common motivation, uncommon success. If our system dies just remember, It brought more success to more people across all lines;economic, religous, cultural. Every group in this society produced giants.

I have the need to go to Portland once a year or so. Beautiful city or at least a beautiful locale but honestly, I can hardly stand to have a meal downtown or walk around-it's not liberal, hell Boulder which is referred to as The People's Republic is far more tolerable, it's a shitstain of off the scale lefties-remember last year when a guy was caught on camera actually shitting on an American Flag? Yep, Portland.
I really don't see a peaceful resolution of the right/left conflict.
