Mike Thornton puts the lock on fellow Vietnam Recipients, Don "Doc" Ballard (l), and Bob O'Malley during Gainesville Texas MOH gathering. Thornton's was the final MOH action of the war; O'Malley was the first Marine in Vietnam to survive to recieve the Medal. Navy Corpsman Ballard covered an enemy frag to save the Marines he was treating under fire... it failed to detonate... until he tossed it away.
